The Life and Music of Stephen Foster

Narrated by Bob Malone 
Featuring Music by Harmony Creek
 
At the Carteret County Public Library
 
Admission at the door:  Adult  $10 - Child  $1.00 
 
          The narration about Foster’s life will be presented by Bob Malone and interspersed with a musical selection of some of Stephen Foster’s most popular songs performed by a local trio, Harmony Creek.  Known as the “father of American music“, Stephen Foster was a songwriter known for his parlor and minstrel music. He wrote over 200 songs; some of the most popular including; “Oh! Susanna“, “Camptown Races“, “Old Folks at Home“, “My Old Kentucky Home“, “Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair“, “Old Black Joe“, “Massa’s in the Cold Ground”, among many others. Many of his compositions remain popular and recognizable today.
