Manooch to autograph books at

Carteret County Public Library

           Meet local author, Chuck Manooch, who will be available at Carteret County Public Library in Beaufort on Saturday, July 20, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to autograph copies of his books: Becoming a Man Through Military Service, Living the Dream Career: Marine Biologist, Growing Up an Old Raleigh Boy and Fisherman’s Guide, Fishes of the Southeastern United States.

            Dr. Charles “Chuck” S. Manooch III, a scientist and professional conservationist, has been active in fisheries research and management for forty years.  He was educated in the Raleigh Public School System, and graduated from Campbell University and North Carolina State University.  He received his M.S. in 1972 and Ph.D. degree in 1975, both in Zoology.  From 1972 through 2002 he was employed as a research fisheries scientist at the NOAA Beaufort, NC Laboratory.  Charles serves as the Adjunct Professor at North Carolina State University, East Carolina University, and University of North Carolina at Wilmington.   He has served on more than thirty graduate student committees.  During his career he has published more than one hundred scientific papers, and has authored five books, including Spring Comes to the Roanoke.  He and his wife Carol reside in Morehead City, North Carolina.  They have five grown children and eight grandchildren.
