GLENIS REDMOND
Glenis Redmond is a spoken word performer, poet, author, and educator
who travels the country and the globe performing and teaching at venues
from large performing arts centers to local schools. In
performance, Redmond brings her audiences to their feet with her grace,
intensity, and passion.

Redmond will introduce performance poetry terms and elements of
performance poetry, as well as offer examples of poems that are written
to be enjoyed out loud. She will talk about the importance of
exploring the stories and rhythms of their own family, community, and
culture for inspiration.

PETER MAKUCK
Until his
retirement from East Carolina University in 2006, Peter Makuck was a
Distinguished Professor of American Literature, and the founder/editor
of Tar River Poetry. He has three published collections of poetry, two
collections of short stories, and has co-edited a book of essays.

Mr. Makuck will distribute examples of several kinds of poems – letter,
list, object, how-to – and discuss the importance of imagery. He will
also talk about the process of revision and the range of questions
writers must ask when they think a poem is ready to be submitted for
publication .
Space is limited for both Reading & Workshop.
Admission: $5 for Reading only, $10 for Reading & Workshop
