Our Friends of the Library

| The public
libraries in Carteret County are fortunate to have active and dedicated
Friends of the Library organizations. Each group supports its library with
contributions for items and services such as audio books, the summer reading
programs, adult education programs, additional equipment and furnishings,
supplies, and supplemental materials. |
| Book sales are an
important means of raising funds. Each group has a special “in-the-library”
book sale where bestselling titles are offered at bargain prices. |

| Friends of Carteret County
Public Library also operates the red Book Sales Wagon from Easter to
Thanksgiving, at the corner of Turner and Front Streets. |

| Friends of Bogue Banks
Public Library holds two annual book sales each year at the Shepherd of the
Sea Lutheran Church in Atlantic Beach. The funds raised last year helped to
pay for this library’s new outdoor media return. |

| Friends of Western
Carteret Public Library conducts a huge book sale during the St. Patrick’s
Day celebration on Emerald Isle. Their Book Cottage, located towards the
back of the parking lot, also offers bestselling titles. The cottage is open
Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 - 4 p.m. and the first four Saturdays of each
month from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. |

| Friends of Down East
Public Library trailers books to special events like the Seafood Festival
and the Waterfowl Weekend. This group runs a continuous book sale in the
Resource Center located next door to the library. |

| For everyone who is
already a friend, the libraries cannot thank you enough for all the hard
work you put in to making your library a beacon to encourage the community
to participate in library services. To become a friend of the library: drop
by your library, fill out a membership form at your convenience, and choose
the membership option of your preference. |
