Our
libraries are gearing up for an anticipated outburst of ‘creativity’
this summer. The 2009 Summer Reading Program, “Be Creative @ Your
Library” will explore the worlds of drama, music, dance, art, books, and
more. All events are free and open to young people from preschool
through young adult. Weekly programs in July and August feature prizes
and story hours. Families with younger children are invited to
participate in the Read-to-Me portion of the program by either reading
to them or allowing the children to read to others. |

|
Registration
begins Saturday, June 6 at the Carteret County Public Library in
Beaufort, Monday, June 15 at the Western Carteret Public Library in Cape
Carteret, Monday, June 22 at the Bogue Banks Public Library in Pine
Knoll Shores, and Monday, June 29 at the Newport Public Library. At
registration, children receive a special packet containing a Reading
Log, stickers, and other reading incentives. |

|
The Summer
Reading Program asks that all participants read at least 20 minutes a
day; children keep a log of their reading, and report it to the library
for free prizes. |
